Virtual DJ

Virtual DJ (also known as VDJ) is a range of audio/video mixing software developed by Atomix Productions Inc. for use by mobile and club DJs. The first version appeared in July 2003. VirtualDJ is the successor of AtomixMP3, which was released for the first time in September 2000. Development for AtomixMP3 stopped as soon as VirtualDJ was released as its successor. VirtualDJ was released in 5 different versions: VirtualDJ Home Edition (formerly sold at shops, now released as free edition), VirtualDJ Broadcaster (available online and in shops), VirtualDJ Pro Full (only available online), VirtualDJ Limited Edition (free with selected MIDI controllers), and VirtualDJ Pro Basic (a budget alternative to VirtualDJ Pro without MIDI control). In May 2014 VirtualDJ 8 was released, which was completely rewritten. VirtualDJ is a DJ software for PC and MAC.
It is used by DJs to replace their turntables and CD players, and use digital music instead of vinyl and CDs. It lets you "mix" your songs, by playing two or more tracks at the same time, adjust their relative speed so that their tempo will match, apply effects like loops etc, and crossfade from one side to the other. It also lets you scratch your songs, set and recall cues, and all the other regular features DJs expect to find to be able to mix. VirtualDJ is plug-and-play compatible with most of the DJ controllers that exist on the market. Just plug yours and you will be ready to go.
VirtualDJ is used by tens of millions of people every day, ranging from bedroom DJs to international superstars.

Zones Overview

Virtual DJ

As you can see there are five zones in the interface:
1. At the bottom of the interface you have your Browser, Sampler, Effects, and Record. From here you can browse the hard drives on your computer for your music files, preview tracks, create, edit and save playlists, adjust audio and video effects, record and save mixes, and set up Internet Broadcasting.

2. On the left; you have Deck 1. Drag and drop your music to this virtual deck and you’ll see information about the track, such as Artist, Title, Beats Per Minute (BPM), Waveform, Counters, and Transport Control.

3. On the right; you have Deck 2. This is identical to Deck 1.

4. In between the 2 decks you have your Mixer, Video, and Scratch controls. Deepening on what panel you are on you have access to Crossfade, Gain, Volume PFL Controls, Video Controls, Video Preview Windows, Effect Controls, Timecode Scratch Interface.

5. And at the top; you have your Rhythm Window. This window shows the waveform of each track loaded on playing on a deck, it also features a Computer Beat Grid which is great for visual mixing and beat matching.

Decks Overview

Virtual DJ

1. Provides information about the currently loaded track; Artist, Title, Elapsed Time, Remaining Time, Gain level, Key of Track and the Current Pitch position.

2. Here you have three Hot Cue buttons that allow you to set cue points on your track.

3. Shows the Beats Per Minute (BPM) of the track, this will change as you adjust the Pitch.

4. This is the Waveform of the track which is loaded; it tells you the remaining duration of the track, and what has already been played.

5. Here you can select which effects you want to apply to your track.

6. This is your Loop Sampler where you can choose samples to play over your track

7. Here is your Loop Set / Control where you can set parts of the track to loop, and control and the length of it.

8. This is your Virtual Turntable where you drop tracks on, scratch using your mouse, and pause tracks.

9. Your Pitch Slider / Pitch Buttons allow you to control the speed / pitch of the track by moving the slider. To temporarily change the speed of the track press either of the + or - minus buttons. It's useful if the beat of the track your playing on deck 1, doesn't match the beat of the track on deck 2.

10. Here you have your Transport controls; Cue, Stutter / Play, Pause, and Sync.
Cue will set the track to the default cue point.
Stutter / Play will play the track. If pressed when a track is playing it will return the track back to where you last pressed Play causing a stutter effect.
Pause will pause your track.
Sync will sync the tempo (bpm) of the deck to the opposite deck's tempo.

Mixer Overview

Virtual DJ

1. This is your Panel selection buttons for you to toggle between Mixer, Video, and Scratch.

2. Here are your Master and Headphone Cue volume knobs.

3. This is the Channel Gain knob which sets the level of gain for the corresponding channel (deck).

4. Here are your EQ controls that let you adjust the Low, Med, and High frequencies of the song playing.

5. These are your Channel Faders that allow you to adjust the audio signal of the desired channel.

6. With your PFL and VU Meters you send the deck's prefader level of the sound to monitor using headphones through the cue section. The VU meter shows the output of the corresponding deck.

7. Finally we have our Crossfader. This blends audio or video between the two decks. In other words by sliding it left or right you will only hear the audio from the side you move it towards.

POISONEZONE VST INSTRUMENT

One of the best VST Plugin for FL Studio, Poizone is a subtractive software synthesizer designed to bring you professional quality results, without a learning curve that hinders your creativity. Once you have spent some time auditioning the preset patches Iam sure you will agree that Poizone packs a lot of punch in what appears to be a simple package. Image-Line always give the best stuff right ...

Key Features:
  • 2 oscillators that can produce the two most popular and useful shapes for subtractive synthesis: fat, bright SAW and PULSE shapes, with adjustable pulse width.
  • Noise generator.
  • Ring modulation
  • Sync modulation
  • 16 voice polyphony
  • 4 voice UNISON with user-adjustable stereo panning and 'Octaver'. The Octaver expands the harmonic range and flexibility of the unison sound to support the creation of realistic 'vox-like' effects

  • 3 FILTER modes - low pass, band pass and high pass. PoiZone features a warm, super-trooper-extra-analog-moog-like-mega filter with self oscillation. Special attention has been given to precise filter tuning so that when KEYTRK is set to maximum, the PoiZone filter will track keyboard frequency precisely so it can be used as an oscillator. The PoiZone filter has bright and clean sound or it can be 'grungy' and 'angry' when resonance is introduced as it features some light distortion. And even with distortion the filter sounds clean on high frequencies as it has no aliasing

  • Multi-mode Arpeggiator
  • Noise Gate with an adjustable 16 step pattern. The gate features smoothness control and the ability to import/export patterns to .fxp files

FL Studio

Fl Studio is one of the world most's popular music production systems. Based on Wikipedia, FL Studio (formerly known as FruityLoops ) is a digital audio workstation developed by the Belgian company Image-Line. FL Studio features a graphical user interface based on a pattern-based music sequencer. The program is available in four different editions for Microsoft Windows, including FL Studio Express, Fruity Edition, Producer Edition, and the Signature Bundle.
FL Studio can be used as a VST instrument in other audio workstation programs and also functions as a ReWire client. Image-Line also offers other VST instruments and audio applications. FL Studio is used by electronic musicians and DJs such as Afrojack, Avicii, Angel Vadel and 9th Wonder.
Fl Studio is very helpful for those of you who can not use music instruments.

Software overview

  • FL Studio Express (discontinued after version 10)– This version allows for step sequencer-only editing and is chiefly suited for 64-step loop creation. Each pattern can consist of an unlimited number of instruments—either samples, native, or VST instruments. Instruments in the pattern can be routed to the Mixer tool for effects processing, and effects as of version 10.0 include Delay, Delay Bank, Equo, Flangus, Love Philter, Vocoder, Parametric EQ & EQ2, Multiband Compressor, Spectroman, Stereo Enhancer, Wave Candy, Wave Shaper, and Soundgoodizer. There is no piano roll, playlist ability, automation, audio recording, or VST/ReWire client.
  • Fruity Edition – The Fruity Edition allows users to access the playlist, piano roll, and event automation features, which allow for complex and lengthy arranging and sequencing. There is also VST/ReWire support so that FL Studio can be used as an instrument in other hosts such as Cubase, Sonic Solutions, Logic, and other software. As of version 10.0 this edition includes the Simsynth Live synthesizer instrument, the DrumSynth live percussion synthesizer, the DX10FM synthesizer, and the Wasp/Wasp XT synthesizers. There is no audio recording feature.
  • Producer Edition – The Producer Edition includes all of the features of the Fruity Edition, as well as full recording for internal and external audio and post-production tools. It allows for hand-drawing point and curve based splines. Plugins include Edison, Slicex (loop slicer and re-arranger), Vocodex, and Synthmaker. It also allows for waveform viewing of audio clips and the ability to add cue points.
  • Signature Bundle – This edition includes the Producer Edition as well as a series of plugins such as Sytrus, Maximus, the Fruity Video player, DirectWave Sampler, and the Hardcore Guitar Effects Suite.
  • Free Demo – The free demo version includes all of the program's features and most plugins and allows users to render project audio to WAV, MIDI, MP3, and OGG. The only drawback to this limitation, is that projects saved in demo mode will only open fully once FL Studio and plugins have been registered.
  • Mobile – On June 21, 2011, Image-Line released FL Studio Mobile for iOS and on April 2013 for Android. Both support the ability to create multi-track projects on mobile devices including iPod Touches, iPhones, iPads., Android 2.3.3 and higher Smart Phones and Tablets.
  • Groove – On September 2, 2013, A new standalone app for Windows 8 was released. It is a Groovebox style application optimised for touch-based music creation.
System requirements

FL Studio 10.0 works on Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8 (32-bit or 64-bit versions) or on Intel Macs with Boot Camp. It requires a 2GHz AMD or Intel Pentium 3 CPU with full SSE1 support. It requires 1 GB of free disk space and at least 1 GB of RAM is recommended
FL Studio processes audio using an internal 32-bit floating point engine. It supports sampling rates up to 192 kHz using either WDM or ASIO enabled drivers.

Program Features

Version 11 is the newest version of FL Studio. Introduced in April 2013, it included multi-touch support, improved tempo automation, new plugins such as BassDrum, GMS, Effector, Patcher, and new piano roll features (VFX Key Mapper, VFX Color Mapper )

How To Improve Your Singing Voice

How To Improve Your Singing Voice

For many artists their voice is their most precious instrument. In this post we are going to give you some tips on how to protect and improve your singing voice. There are many simple steps you can take to protect your voice, many are obvious while others may shock you. The first is not to smoke. Smoking creates toxins that damage the vocal cords, which is a big no-no for any singer. The second is to try to relax and warm up your vocal cords before any performance or recording. The third step is to avoid cold or overly hot liquids before performing. Drinking cold liquids can cause your vocal cords to tighten up while overly hot liquid may damage your esophagus. The third is to avoid any dairy products before a performance or recording. Dairy products can cause phlegm which is not good for any singer. The fourth step is to avoid any caffeine before any performance. Like cold liquids, caffeine tightens the vocal cords. If you want to sing for a living, you will probably have to put in years of hard work before you are really ready to make it a career! A few lucky people can sing beautifully almost from the day they are born, but most great singers have had to work at it for years. These are just a few great steps and tips on how to protect your singing voice.
